Master’s and Doctorate Degrees

Carlos Chagas Institute

The PPGBB offers master’s and doctoral academic degrees, with a minimum duration of one year and a maximum of two years, and a minimum of two years and a maximum of four, respectively. We stimulate the transmission of technical, scientific and ethical knowledge in the area of Health. The Program aims to produce excellence in teaching, research and other science-related activities.

Master’s Degree

To obtain the title of Master in Biosciences and Biotechnology, our students develop academic activities for up to 24 months. Students must fulfill a minimum workload of 300 hours in academic disciplines and produce original knowledge to defend their Dissertation.

Doctorate degree

To obtain the title of Doctor of Biosciences and Biotechnology, our students develop academic and research activities for up to 48 months. Students must fulfill a minimum workload of 480 hours in academic disciplines and produce original knowledge that will enable them, at the end of this period, to defend their Doctoral Thesis. It is expected that at the end of the Doctorate period, each of our students will be the main author in at least one scientific article of international circulation.
